£9m office renovation leads to 75 new job opportunities

Bourn, one of Coventry’s recently renovated office buildings known for its sustainability, has contributed to the creation of more than 75 new jobs.

The 90,000 sq ft building has recently undergone a £9m refurbishment led by Solihull-based IM Properties and attracted tenant Corona Energy.

Situated at 1 Manor House Drive, the office features its own app to allow sharing of energy and waste data, encouraging the use of city centre amenities and helping to build an engaged building community through social and community events.

Internally, the building has a new entrance and open floor spaces with exposed mechanical and electrical systems. Air quality is monitored, there’s plenty of natural light, and indoor plants contribute to a biophilic atmosphere. Outside, green spaces with seating are provided for employee use.

There is a new social hub at the rear that offers additional breakout areas, standing stations, a filtered water dispenser, and space for meetings.

CEO Neil Mitchell of Corona Energy said: “Being an energy company, we recognise the importance of net zero and the impacts of climate change on our customers and it’s important we lead by example and set the standard for the businesses which select us as their partner to deliver energy. We’ve created new customer service jobs initially, recruiting from a strong existing talent pool in Coventry and its surrounding areas which we believe offer us the stability we require to continue delivering first-class customer service.”

Rob Hemus, asset director for IM Properties said: “We are more focussed than ever on ensuring buildings have a positive impact on the local environment and community through our Sustainable Future’s framework of People, Planet and Place, investing only in best-in-class offices. To achieve this on a refurbishment is something we are immensely proud of, and we hope will set a precedent for future endeavours in the city.”

CBRE and Bromwich Hardy are the agents for Bourn.
