Manufacturing boss leads West Midlands recipients in New Year Honours

Rowan Crozier

The chief executive of a Birmingham metal engineering firm has been recognised in the New Year Honours List.

Rowan Crozier, who heads up Brandauer – a firm which produces millions of parts that are sent to more than 26 countries across the world every week – has been awarded an MBE for services to manufacturing and enterprise.

Crozier told TheBusinessDesk.com: “I am genuinely shocked to receive this award; you just never expect to be an MBE growing up and certainly not for, in my opinion, just doing my job.

“This is an accolade for my family and my teams at Brandauer and Support Staffordshire, who have worked so hard to support me and help us emerge from the pandemic in a stronger position than the one we entered. Importantly, both organisations have strong platforms from which to maximise future opportunities.

“It is also refreshing for manufacturing to get the national recognition it deserves. Industry is so important to the economic success of the UK and hopefully my MBE shows our engineers of the future and their parents that you can achieve the highest personal honour by following a passion for STEM.”

Elsewhere, Paula Deas, the deputy chief executive of the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership receives an MBE for services to the community in the West Midlands, while Gregory Doran, the former artistic director at the Royal Shakespeare Company, is knighted.

In politics, Sajid Javid, MP for Bromsgrove is knighted and Timothy Garnier, the MP for Wyre Forest, lands an OBE for political and public service. Meanwhile, the former leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council and deputy chair of the Local Government Association, Abi Brown, gets an OBE for services to local government.

Back in the business world and Mohammed Moula, chairman of the Rajnagar Business Group and Moula Foundation receives an MBE for services to the Bangladeshi Community and to charity, while Phillip Potter, the regional lead, West Midlands, Wales and the South-West at UK Export Finance has landed an MBE for services to business and to the community in Worcestershire.
