Proposal for Birmingham apartment scheme set for approval

More than 100 apartments will be developed on a Birmingham car park, subject to a Section 106 agreement on affordable housing.
Raybone Developments has proposed a 106 residential scheme across seven storeys on the car park land on Holliday Street.
Planners at Birmingham City Council are set to approve the scheme tomorrow (January 11) subject to a Section 106 agreement, meaning 7% of the two and three bedroom apartments are provided at a discount market value of 30%.
A viability assessment had been submitted that demonstrated that the scheme couldn’t support a 35% contribution towards affordable homes.
A number of amendments to the scheme were made before Christmas to address urban design comments and to remove a basement car park and related vehicle access ramp. Developers also agreed to amend the mix of units to increase the number of family dwellings.
