Warwickshire marina snapped up prior to auction

A large Warwickshire marina has been picked up for £1.1m, just before being sent to auction.

Fenny Marina on Station Fields in Fenny Compton, near Southam, had a guide price of £950k at Bond Wolfe’s February auction, but instead was acquired by Crafted Boats.

The family-owned firm of specialist boat builders and repairers based in Bromsgrove, was founded in 1953. It’s now acquired the 6.12-acre inland waterway marina with 85 boat berths, a three-bedroomed bungalow and extensive outbuildings.

It was originally developed in the 1970s and now has a new private driveway with electric gates, a dry dock facility that pays £1,250 in rent per month to the marina and almost 2,000 sq ft of office space and storage.

Aaron Pinder, a director of Crafted Boats said: “Our plan for the marina is to continue to operate the mooring and services but to look at improving the facility.

“We will also be offering, as we do at our other sites, repaint jobs, hull and top side work, grit blasting and epoxy coating, pressure wash and blacking, plus engine repairs, to name just a few of our services.”

MFG Solicitors provided legal advice on the deal for Crafted Boats, while Freeths Solicitors advised the vendor, whose identity has not been disclosed.
