2024 West Midlands Business of the Year winners revealed

Carol Shanahan

Synectics Solutions co-founder and Port Vale chair Carol Shanahan was named the West Midlands Ambassador at the Business of the Year Awards tonight.

Shanahan was recognised for her success growing a fintech business to employ more than 400 people in Staffordshire and her investments and commitment to the League One football club and the charitable Hubb Foundation she launched.

The West Midlands Business of the Year Awards were supported and judged by Cazenove, Clearwater International, Freeths, LDC, and Robert Walters.

A capacity audience at the Macdonald Burlington in Birmingham also heard from Deeley Group’s joint managing director Eleanor Deeley, and supported the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

It was the first year of a much more in-depth judging process that saw every business that entered receive a site visit from judges before the shortlists were drawn up. Then each of the shortlisted companies presented to a panel of judges before the winners were selected.

Anna Cooper, TheBusinessDesk.com’s assistant editor in the West Midlands, said: “It’s been great to get to know your businesses through that process and really understand what has been achieved and what your ambitions are for the future.

“We are all looking forward to watching your progress in the months and years ahead.”
