Tech firm unveils new security operations centre after year of growth

A technology solutions and services firm SCC has opened a new advanced Security Operations Centre (SOC) at its international headquarters in Birmingham, cementing 12 months of growth in its Cyber division.

In the past 12 months, SCC has made a multimillion-pound investment in creating a new cyber division, building on its previous capability within its Data Centre operation, including more than 30 new jobs across operations, AI, automation, technical architecture, product development, and sales.

SOC holds accreditation from CREST and serves as a primary hub in the UK for the expanding Cyber operations team.

This development strengthens SCC’s capability to continuously monitor, prevent, detect, investigate, and address global cyber threats across customers’ attack surfaces.

Steve Harrison, cyber operations director at SCC, said: “Our customers rely on SCC’s specialist Cyber expertise to ensure they can focus on running their businesses safely, against a backdrop of sophisticated and ever-increasing cyber threats. Our investment in the Cyber division underlines our commitment to our customers.

“The opening of our new SOC is the latest milestone on our growth journey, with plans to keep adding services and people to the Cyber team. This in turn will keep creating new opportunities for our customers to stay better protected from unprecedented challenges in cyber security.”

Viscount Camrose, minister for AI and Intellectual Property at the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT), said of SCC’s new SOC: “The UK cyber security sector is thriving thanks to our brilliant industry leaders who are constantly developing new ideas, and bringing the innovations which will keep us all safe online, to life.

“The opening of SCC’s new Cyber Operations Centre in the West Midlands will not only further that effort but create new, highly-paid jobs which cement the region’s credentials as a cyber security powerhouse. We are cementing our place as a science and tech superpower, and we want to see every corner of the country continuing to play its part in making the UK the safest place in the world to be online.”
