Accountancy firm names new managing partner

Gurj Sandhu

Azets has appointed Gurj Sandhu as regional managing partner of Birmingham.

With over 15 years of experience, Sandhu is also the national head of capital allowances, a specialist area of tax that focuses on maximising tax relief for capital-related property projects. He advises across a broad range of clients and sectors, including property investors & developers, leisure & hospitality, manufacturing and private healthcare businesses. He is also a dual-qualified chartered surveyor (RICS) and chartered accountant (ICAEW).

Sandhu said: “I’ve worked with the Birmingham business community for a significant number of years now and understand the challenges the local marketplace faces.

“The Azets’ Birmingham office was established five years ago, and the next five years look even more exciting. Our foundation of strong partners has been crucial in our growth to date and we have big ambitions to triple revenue in this office over the next five years. As such, we will continue to grow our fantastic team of partners to meet the needs of our expanding business.

We will also look to bolster our core teams, which includes accounting, audit, tax and business advisory services. The future at Azets is really exciting, and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.”

Sandhu’s appointment comes after three promotions at Azets’ Birmingham office, including Joel Fentem to associate director, Tiffany Clarke to senior manager and Raphael Camillo to senior.

Richard Goddard, regional managing director of Azets Central and West, added: “Despite the challenging economic background, as a region, we continue to go from strength to strength thanks to a collaborative approach from our teams and clients. The appointment of Gurj reflects our commitment to support continued growth, so we can continue to meet the needs of our expanding business, as well as helping the growing number of SMEs in the country across complex areas of accounting and business services.”
