Bilston regeneration plans get the green light

Plans to regenerate Bilston’s outdoor market have been approved by The City of Wolverhampton Council.

£5.2m from the Towns Fund will fuel the redevelopment, which forms part of the transformative Bilston Health & Regeneration Programme (HaRP).

The new-look market will be connected to Bilston’s public transport network as well as to fresh public space.

Other improvements include a redeveloped entrance off of the Black Country Route, the reorganisation and refurbishment of the indoor and outdoor markets, the introduction of new retail units and public toilets, the provision of a flexible space where events can be hosted and a taller canopy to cover the stalls in the outdoor market.

Planning permission comes following public feedback in July on initial proposals, which have helped shape the final design for the community asset.
