German automotive logistics firm acquired by Stobart Europe
Stobart Europe has acquired a German automotive logistics firm, with ambitions of growing its presence in the sector.
The subsidiary of Market Drayton-based Culina Group, Stobart Europe has bought Suloja Autotransporte, a mid-size player which delivered a €6.8m (£5.8m) turnover in 2023.
Whilst Stobart Europe believes the acquisition will enhance its European automotive logistics presence, it says Suloja Autotransporte will benefit from being part of Culina Group, which will provide investment, safeguard jobs and bring an “entrepreneurial spirit.”
It adds to Stobart Europe’s 600 employees with main depots in Belgium, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Germany and Bulgaria.
Employing more than 22,000 employees and turning over £2.2bn, Culina Group operates 20m sq ft of warehousing and has a fleet of 5,000 vehicles. Its portfolio of 16 brands includes Stobart, Fowler Welch and The Pallet Network.
Raf Hustinx, Stobart Europe chief executive said: ”Suloja Autotransporte GmbH and Stobart Europe are complementary businesses. Both businesses are strong organisations with well-earned reputations in the automotive logistics sector.
”It’s an acquisition that will be beneficial for all staff and clients, and one that will strengthen the Stobart Europe position as a key player in European automotive logistics.”
Suloja Autotransporte, which has its headquarters in Monchengladbach, specialises in a range of automotive logistics solutions and has over twenty five years of experience in the sector. It employs around thirty staff and operates a fleet of twenty vehicles that in 2023 transported more than 35,000 vehicles across Germany.
