Birmingham events company acquired in multi-million-pound deal

A Birmingham events company has been snapped up by event ticketing and bookings platform Citizen Ticket in a multi-million-pound deal combining cash and equity.

Founded over two decades ago by Mo Jones and Jimmy Hewson, TicketSellers & Eventree has clients such as Shambala Festival, End of the Road Festival, and Southampton International Boat Show.

Included in the deal is TicketSellers’ accreditation software, Eventree which is utilised by medium to large-scale festival events, with current clients including Glastonbury Festival, Parklife, Isle of Wight, Reading & Leeds, Lost Village, and Download.

Citizen Ticket aims to use the technical strengths and expertise of both platforms to improve its offerings and better serve event organisers and attendees, planning to expand its ticketing platform and Eventree globally.

Additionally, the acquisition brings key individuals to board and management positions within Citizen Ticket.

Mo Jones will assume the role of chairman, Phil Hayes will become the chief product officer (CPO), and Liz Cobley, TicketSellers’ current operations director, will take on the role of operations director for the expanded company.

Hayes said, “We are thrilled to become part of Citizen Ticket, marking a new chapter in our journey. This acquisition opens the door to unparalleled opportunities, enabling us to enhance our services and reach new heights together. We’re excited for the synergies and innovation that this partnership promises for our clients and our future.”
