MHA has merged with Roberts Nathan, an accountancy and advisory firm based in Ireland with offices in Dublin and Cork, with plans to create 100 jobs.

The merger, effective from 1 July, will see the formation of Baker Tilly Ireland.

MHA, with offices across the Midlands in Nottingham, Leicester, Northampton and Birmingham, and in the North West in Manchester and Liverpool, specialises in providing audit, tax, and business advisory services.

Towards the end of last year, MHA entered the Scottish market by merging with Aberdeen’s Meston Reid & Co and then in February, the company merged with Geoghegans in Edinburgh.

The merger aims to blend Roberts Nathan’s local expertise with its international footprint, improving the firm’s ability to offer more services to clients in Ireland and around the world.

Currently consisting of 70 staff and partners, Baker Tilly Ireland plans to expand its team by creating 100 new positions as part of its growth strategy.

The 100 new roles will range from graduates to experienced professionals in Dublin and Cork and will span audit, advisory, and tax services.

Vivian Nathan, managing partner of Roberts Nathan, said: “We are delighted to share this exciting news. This proposed merger marks a pivotal milestone, enabling us to leverage our combined strengths to provide more extensive services and innovative solutions to our clients while creating significant growth opportunities for our team.”

Rakesh Shaunak, managing partner and chairman of MHA said: “Expanding into Ireland is a significant step in MHA’s strategic growth plans given the country’s trading ties and business connections with the UK and mainland Europe, as well as its thriving business community, and resilient economy.

“Our focus in Ireland will remain on supporting local and international SMEs, enabling local clients to take advantage of the international footprint of Baker Tilly International, and also allowing our UK clients new opportunities to enter the Irish Market.  Roberts Nathan’s growth mindset, entrepreneurial spirit and highly personal ethos aligns with MHA’s perfectly, so we are very excited about this next phase.”
