Plans in place to rennovate historic Birmingham building

CGI of how the scheme will look

Plans are in place for a renovation project in Birmingham, which involves renovating a historic building and constructing a new 14-story residence at 34 Horse Fair.

Led by Scarlet’s (Properties) and designed by Glancy Nicholls Architects, the development, known as The White Lion, aims to provide 182 ensuite student studio bed spaces.

The historic White Lion Public House, dating back to the late 19th century and listed as Grade II, will be preserved and refurbished as part of the project.

It will offer student amenities including a new entrance, reception area, and a basement cinema room.

Additionally, a new 14-story red brick building will be built behind The White Lion, featuring ground-floor amenities, cycle storage, and studio bedrooms. The rooftop will accommodate air-source heat pumps, a generator, solar panels, and lift overruns.

LUNA Students, under Torsion Developments, will manage the building, providing amenities such as lounges, laundry facilities, staff showers, offices, and an outdoor courtyard.
