450 homes tipped for approval in inner city Birmingham

Outline planning permission is set to be given for 451 homes in the Winson Green area of Birmingham.
Birmingham City Council planning officers have recommended plans for approval and will discuss the scheme spearheaded by developer Rochda tomorrow (June 13).
Rochda is looking to build seven residential blocks between five and nine storeys on land at Great Western Close, near Western Business Park, comprising 186 one-bedroom, 243 two-bedroom and 22 three-bedroom units.
The scheme would build on the planning permission secured in 2021 for five residential blocks between five and seven storeys, comprising 310 homes as well as a day nursery and gym.
It’s proposed a 6% provision of affordable housing to be delivered on-site through a Section 106 agreement.. This would be split between “First Home” Units (25%), discounted at 30% and Affordable Rental Units (75%), again discounted at 30%.
151 parking spaces have been proposed and 10% of spaces will have EV chargers. Each home will have one cycle space.
