Construction firm Lendlease has finalised contracts worth up to £450m to upgrade army barracks in the Midlands, Gloucester and Wales.
The contracts, secured under the Defence Estate Optimisation initiative, involve primarily new-build construction of living, working, and training facilities.
Estimated at £450m, the projects will be carried out for the Army and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).
The project at Imjin Barracks in Gloucestershire includes new-build construction of on-site living, working and training facilities, single living accommodation blocks, new garages and workshops, administration buildings and improved gym facilities.
For St David’s Barracks in Bicester, the work involves new builds and refurbishments of living, working, and training on-site, including an extension to existing mess blocks, enhancement of existing road infrastructure, and a new sports hall and gym facilities.
At Beacon Barracks in Staffordshire, the project includes new builds and refurbishments of living, working, and training facilities, such as new single living accommodation, new and refurbished administration buildings, workshop facilities, and a new multi-use games area.
The works were awarded through the Ministry of Defence’s Strategic Alliance Contract.
