Care group trebles post-pandemic revenues

An acquisitive strategy and strong organic growth has resulted in Optimo Care Group trebling its post-pandemic revenues.

The group, which employs 1,200 people, has bought six companies in that period, including Abbeycare, Stepping Stones, and My Life Choice. Optimo is now aiming to double its revenues to £60m in the next three years.

Its progress follows on from the group forming two divisions, homecare and specialist supported living, two years ago to create a better structure for its growth plans.

Richard Walker, chief executive and co-founder said: “We set ambition for both, put together a new board of directors and focused on how we would evolve Optimo.

“Fast forward two-and-a-half years and we have tripled our revenues to £30m and acquired six substantial care businesses across the North West, Yorkshire and the South East. Both divisions have also delivered strong organic growth with wins in competitive tendering.”

Barnsley-headquartered Optimo has recently brought together its homecare brands WarrenCare, Local Care Services, TLC, Mayday, and Safe Hands under a single new identity, Choices Homecare, which operates in 12 locations across the North.

“We had multiple trading names and services, both long standing services and newer acquisitions that had joined the Optimo family,” said Walker. “We wanted to create a single identity and renew our purpose to be a service to be proud of.”

Optimo co-founder and chair Mark Hales, a West Midlands entrepreneur who is also a shareholder in TheBusinessDesk.com, added: “The development and scaling we have seen is great news for the group.

“Setting and delivering objectives for our growth and sustainability post pandemic was never going to be easy, but it was essential. As a result, we now provide a wider range of services, across a much broader geographic area.

“Our senior leadership team is fully focussed on the opportunities and challenges that present and I look forward to seeing more milestones achieved as we move forwards.”
