Construction firm secures £32m contract for Walsall waste centre

Morgan Sindall has been awarded a £32m contract by Walsall Council to construct a new household waste recycling centre and waste transfer station at Middlemore Lane.
The new centre will be developed on a six-hectare site previously occupied by McKechnie Brass.
Before construction begins, Morgan Sindall will re-engineer the soils using lime and cement stabilisation techniques and manage surface water on the site.
Construction will include weighbridges, service yards, ventilation systems, office and welfare facilities for staff and a reuse shop with a workshop area.
The contract is through Pagabo’s Major Works Framework and is scheduled for completion within 64 weeks, with Morgan Sindall managing all aspects of the technical design and construction.
