Plans for a solar farm and battery storage facility in Warwickshire have been given the green light.

The 55-hectare (136-acre) site near Honiley Road, Kenilworth, will be used to generate electricity for the National Grid.

Enso Green Holdings P, the applicant, has said the solar farm will operate for 40 years and produce around 23 megawatts (MW) of energy at peak times.

A report has noted that any potential impact on the green belt is outweighed by the benefits of renewable energy.

The project was approved by Minister of State Matthew Pennycook, following a referral from the local planning authority, Warwick District Council, to the Secretary of State.
