Property firm fined for failing to clear waste from site
A property company has been fined £18,465 for failing to remove approximately 4,000 tonnes of waste.
B46 Properties purchased land at Brickyard Farm in Fradley, Staffordshire, where a waste company had been storing materials such as bricks and wood.
When the waste company went into liquidation and abandoned the site, B46 Properties became responsible for clearing the waste and was ordered to do so by December 2023.
The property company, of Stechford, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the order.
Despite an Environment Agency notice waste remained on the site.
Company director Gary Hambleton told the Agency that waste was being removed as funds allowed, but the company would not take loans or go into overdraft to complete the clearance.
