Midlands Universities secure top spots in prestigious guide
Two Midlands Universities have retained their spots in the top ten of The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025.
Out of 134 universities, Warwick University was ranked in ninth place, continuing its record of featuring in the top 10 every single year since the Guide was first published in 1992.
Several Warwick departments ranked highly for their subject areas, including seven subjects in the Top 3, 22 subjects in the Top 10, ranked first in business management & marketing and ranked first in economics.
Loughborough University remains tenth in the Guide, as well as being crowned Sports University of the Year.
This is the fourth time Loughborough has been awarded the title, coming after a summer of sport where University-linked athletes brought home 35 medals from the Paris Games.
Professor Stuart Croft, Vice Chancellor, and President of The University of Warwick said: “Our ranking as a top 10 University in the UK is testament to the hard work of our academics, professional services, and students.
“As we mark our 60th anniversary in 2025, we remain committed to providing an inclusive and transformative educational experience that prepares students for success in an ever-changing world.”
Professor Nick Jennings, Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University, said: “Sport is at the very heart of Loughborough, from our incredible facilities and world-leading research to our performance sport specialists and expert coaches.
“We are always proud of what our athletes achieve, but an Olympic and Paralympic year shines an even brighter spotlight on their successes. We also celebrate the many coaches, practitioners, and support staff from across the University who help them achieve their goals.
“To remain a top ten university in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025 is another remarkable achievement. Again, testament to the incredible work of colleagues across the University who are dedicated to ensuring our students get the very best out of their time at Loughborough.”
