Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has acquired Cheadle Market, as part of its efforts to regenerate the town centre.

The market was sold at a live auction, with the council purchasing it for £260,000.

Formerly owned by Northern Markets, the market features a 3,220 sq ft market hall with space for 30 stalls, along with an outdoor square.

It was advertised as a “unique opportunity to acquire a historic marketplace in Cheadle.”

Brown Jacobson facilitated the transaction, handling all legal and transactional requirements for the council.

Gideon Frater, an associate at Browne Jacobson specialising in regeneration, said: “Purchasing
Cheadle Market has been a core ambition of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, which
believes a thriving market at the heart of the town will be a great asset and a key contribution to
a vibrant future for Cheadle.

“Our firm has a strong desire to work with clients aiming to solve some of society’s biggest
issues. Restoring historic assets and regenerating town centres is a great example of this.”
