Land deal paves way for 5,000-home development
A parcel of land has been acquired by a housebuilder marking a step forward for a 5,000 development in Warwickshire.
Newton LDP and Margetts have completed the sale of a 12.94-hectare plot of land in Cawston, Rugby to Miller Homes on behalf of the landowner and Catesby Estates, part of Urban&Civic.
Located south of Coventry Road and west of Cawston Lane, the site has outline planning consent for 210 homes as well as a two-form entry primary school.
It is the first piece of land that has been sold within the wider project, which is known as Homestead View.
The South West Rugby Sustainable Urban Development Extension will feature 5,000 homes, two schools, a district centre, 35 hectares of employment land, walking and cycling routes, new transport links and green infrastructure.
30% of the 210 homes will be allocated as affordable housing, with construction scheduled to start in June 2025.
George Fox, director of Newton LDP, said: “We are delighted to have sold this parcel of land to Miller Homes. We have worked closely with their teams across the country in the past, so we are pleased to have now done a deal with their West Midlands Team.
“Miller Homes build a quality product which is ideal for this first phase at Homestead View. We know their houses will not only complement the existing community, but enhance future planned phases.”
