Green light for 220,000 sq ft business estate
A 220,000 sq ft business park has been approved near Tamworth after the council previously deferred the application.
Urban regeneration company Summix has secured outline planning permission for 220,000 sq ft of commercial space on 7ha of brownfield derelict land on Tamworth Road.
Residential development was previously sought on the site, but a commercial development was deemed to be a better use for the site.
The estate is set to offer buildings for research, commercial and industrial use and retain natural habitats.
Now that outline planning permission has been granted, Summix is looking to select a development partner.
The outline planning permission was granted by North Warwickshire Borough Council, following a previous deferral of the application.
Stuart Black, development director of Summix said: “These plans will provide a major economic boost to the area, attracting investment and businesses to the area and will create new jobs.
“We’re very pleased that the Council has recognised the benefits that this project will bring and approved the plans.”
