Consultation launched for ‘landmark’ Homes England scheme

A public consultation has been launched by Homes England, for a residential-led development of up to 550 homes in Digbeth.

The government’s housing and regeneration agency has brought forward proposals for the “landmark” scheme at Belmont Passage which includes commercial space, green spaces and “safe pedestrian routes, designed around a central green heart”.

Belmont Passage will deliver hundreds of new homes of varying types, sizes and tenures, including affordable homes to drive the “urban renewal of this dynamic part of the city centre”.

On its website, Homes England said: “We are seeking to make Belmont Passage a desirable and pleasant place to live and visit, with safe cycle parking and an improved aspect onto the nearby River Rea providing opportunities for residents and families of all ages to enjoy pleasant and usable outdoor space.”

The public consultation will run until November 7, ahead of a planning application being submitted.
