Big changes are underway at KPMG UK’s Midlands team, with five senior appointments set to bring fresh leadership to its Birmingham office.

Stuart Sewell, who has nearly thirty years of experience at KPMG, has been named the new head of M&A for the Midlands.

As a well-known figure in the local M&A community, he will oversee the team that advises corporations and shareholders on growth strategies and corporate finance transactions.

The team completed and exchanged transactions of £500m in the last quarter of 2024, with notable deals including the sale of Wardell Armstrong to SLR Consulting, the sale of Clifton Packaging to Carton Pack and a high-profile
healthcare private equity investment.

Richard Dwight has taken on the role of head of transaction advisory services in the Midlands. Having worked for KPMG for over ten years, Dwight will lead efforts to support corporate clients, private equity, and owner-managed businesses with mergers and acquisitions.

Nikki Davies has been appointed head of KPMG private enterprise (KPE) audit for the West Midlands. With over 20 years at the firm, Davies brings extensive experience in external audit, financial reporting and accounting advice across various sectors.

In her new role, she will continue to assist clients with acquisitions, disposals, and other transactions.

Louise Scott-Worrall has been named infrastructure, government, and healthcare lead, focusing on public sector clients, including education, local government, housing, health, transport and infrastructure.

Bharat Bhushan, a veteran in the financial services industry, has been appointed as the regional leader for financial services.

Bhushan’s new role will involve ensuring comprehensive support for clients in the sector.

Andy Bostock, Birmingham office senior partner at KPMG UK said: “The Midlands has a strong foundation for business success, and while economic headwinds and uncertainties remain, 2025 promises to be a year of opportunity for businesses right across the region. Our latest Private Enterprise Barometer found that, despite current challenges, the vast majority of private firms in the Midlands were confident about their growth prospects heading into the new year.

“With the economy going through a crucial period of transition, it’s important that businesses are able to access a full range of advisory services to help them as they pursue growth – organically and through M&A. These leadership changes further enhance our on-the-ground presence in the Midlands as we continue to play our role in supporting those ambitions.”
