Redditch gears up for 120,000 sq ft logistics scheme

Greenlight Urban has the go-ahead to transform a former Redditch manufacturing site, securing full planning permission and bringing in local contractor Benniman to drive the redevelopment forward.

Construction is set to begin in the coming weeks, with plans to partially demolish existing buildings to make way for four new industrial and distribution units.

Spanning 126,715 sq ft, the units will range from 10,000 to 67,475 sq ft and incorporate sustainable technologies such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting, EV charging infrastructure and air source heat pumps.

Units 1 and 3 will also feature Category A office space and balcony areas for employees.

Earlier this year, Greenlight secured a pre-let agreement with the site’s existing occupier, Honeywell.

As part of the deal, Honeywell’s 61,800 sq ft facility will be fully refurbished to meet BREEAM Outstanding for refurbishment.

Mark Enderby, director of development at Delancey said: “Greenlight Urban is leading the way in developing outstanding, mid-box assets with first-class ESG credentials, and we’re delighted that Honeywell has recognised this by remaining on the site to be part of Greenlight Redditch. We look forward to welcoming more exciting occupiers to Greenlight Redditch to take advantage of the prime location and best-in-class space.”

Stuart Franks, partner at Coltham said: “Greenlight Redditch will provide outstanding mid-box industrial space to the West Midlands. The new units have been designed to help occupiers reduce their operating costs and provide a better operating experience for their staff and customers.”
