Cleaning product giant wipes the floor with counterpart acquisition

A Coventry-based manufacturer of wet and dry nonwoven wipes, Ecotech, has been acquired by commercial cleaning product supplier Harrisons.

Ecotech, which has been producing cleaning products for distributors and wholesalers worldwide since 1997, faced an uncertain future before the acquisition.

The company submitted two notices of intention (NOIs) to appoint administrators through Irwin Mitchell – one on January 21 and another on February 4.

The deal marks a significant milestone for Romford-based Harrisons, a company with a 134-year history. With the acquisition of Ecotech, Harrisons will expand into the manufacturing and distribution of wet wipes as part of its product line.

It follows a new logistics partnership with Magnum Logistics, taking Harrison’s supply chain to the next level through BREEAM-certified sustainable warehousing, access to up to 10,000 pallet spaces, and enhanced stock management technology.

Stephen Harrison, managing director at Harrisons said: “This is a pivotal moment for Harrisons, marking a key milestone in our growth strategy and significant development in our 134-year history. It’s clear that Ecotech’s range complements our existing portfolio of products, so I’m excited by what’s next.”

Jason Lippitt, director of Ecotech said: Joining Harrisons is great news and the team is already looking forward to the new chapter. Harrisons is a family business that is synonymous with the highest standards of the industry, and we’re ready to roll our sleeves up and seize the opportunities this new platform for growth presents.”
