Coleshill hotel hits the market after HS2 acquisition

A Coleshill hotel is back on the market after being acquired in a land grab for phase 1 of HS2.
The freehold of the Grimstock Hotel has been put up for sale with leisure property specialists Fleurets.
Grimstock Hotel has not traded since 2020 having been acquired as part of the major infrastructure project.
Concerns were raised over the hotel’s ability to operate during construction works to develop the north viaduct along the M42. In 2014, the High Speed Rail committee met with Morteza Vakil, the former owner, to hear evidence as to how HS2 would impact the hotel and its profitability.
The 44-bedroom hotel has three function areas with a restaurant and bar and lies on a site of more than two acres.
Andy Tudor, divisional director at Fleurets said: “The Grimstock Hotel is a well-appointed hotel which is able to appeal to both business and leisure guests with additional scope for functions and weddings. Lying within 5 miles of the NEC; Birmingham International Train Station and Birmingham Airport, its already excellent position will be further enhanced by the new Solihull Interchange Station.”
