60 jobs saved as recruitment firm is rescued

Almost 60 jobs have been saved after administrators secured a rescue deal for a recruitment firm.

Smarter Recruitment Services, led by Sarah and Mark Heath, had appointed administrators at Leonard Curtis after facing difficulties due to the cost of living crisis.

The Newcastle-under-Lyme firm had been hit by clients implementing hiring freezes, leading to a drop in revenue and creating cashflow issues.

Increases in minimum wage, inflationary salary pressures and other rises in expenses relating to insurance and utilities had also impacted profitability.

Smarter Recruitment Consultancy, also led by Sarah Heath and Sarah Ellis, has acquired the business and its assets, saving 59 jobs, including temporary workers.
