Michael Bennett

TLT has added construction disputes lawyer Michael Bennett to its national projects, infrastructure, and construction (PIC) team.

Based in the firm’s Birmingham office, Bennett brings over 15 years of experience handling construction disputes across various sectors, including rail, power stations, and commercial developments.

Previously at Shoosmiths, he has worked with developers, contractors, and consultants on litigation, arbitration, adjudication, and mediation cases.

Recognised by the Legal 500 2024, Bennett is also a panel adjudicator on multiple industry adjudication panels.

At TLT, he will collaborate with national PIC head Simon Goss and contentious construction lead Tom Wrzesien to strengthen the firm’s construction and infrastructure practice.

He said: “2024 was a transformative year for the built environment. The legal framework for building safety is now largely in force and with new plans introduced by the Labour Government, the construction industry is experiencing significant changes. In addition, the changes brought on by climate change and the ever-pressing need to decarbonise all aspects of the built environment and wider economy present unique challenges when undertaking new developments.

“As the sector anticipates further fluctuations in the coming year, I look forward to joining TLT and working with the team to help prepare clients for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I’m excited to join the team in Birmingham during this period of growth and I’m eager to support the firm’s growth in the city.”

Partner and head of location for Birmingham Mark Elder said: “2025 begins with the same ambition and energy we saw in 2024. We continue to grow from strength to strength, investing in our capabilities and attracting the best legal talent in the city. Michael is a strong addition to our team and will be instrumental in growing our construction offering in Birmingham.”
