Irish logistics giant makes first UK acquisition

Ireland’s largest provider of logistics and route-to-market solutions has made its first move into the UK market with the acquisition of Avon Freight Group.

Primeline Group, which employs 1,200 people across Ireland and the UK, has acquired Avon Freight, a transport and logistics provider with 120 staff operating from three sites in Redditch.

Avon provides groupage, transport, warehousing and forwarding solutions for customers throughout the UK and Ireland and has more than 40 years of experience providing groupage and customs services to Ireland.

The partnership is expected to strengthen Primeline’s services across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.

Avon’s managing director, Dawn Greene, will continue to manage the business during this exciting new chapter.

An advisory team at Evolve Corporate Finance, led by David Neate, partner, provided strategic advice to the shareholders of Avon. David was supported by David Lee, director and Dan McCartney, manager.

Knights provided legal advice to the sellers, led by Fiona Boxwell, a partner in their corporate team, with support from Ellie Bryan. Tax advice was provided by Claritas Tax, led by partner Iain Wright.
