Budget PR agency chief leaves company

THE chief executive of a budget public relations business based in Birmingham has left the company.

pr2go was launched in 2009 by James Hobday and offers a pay-per-press-release service, charging companies around £50 for each news story.

In July last year, it was the first company to receive financial backing from the newly launched ‘Exceed’ fund, managed by Birmingham-based venture capital company Midven.

It received a second wave of investment earlier this year from Midven following the £263,000 it was assigned last summer.

pr2go said at the time it would go towards recruiting up to 30 journalists by the end of 2010.

Midven director Roger Wood told TheBusinessDesk.com: “Midven made a second round investment into pr2go in March 2011 with the second tranche of that round being made, in line with our forecasts, in August.

“We can confirm that James Hobday, chief executive of pr2go, left the business by mutual agreement.

“As founder of pr2go, James remains committed to the principle and fully supports the business moving forward.”

Mr Hobday had not responded to requests for comment at the time of publication.
