Help at hand for firms facing next year’s tax changes

INTERNATIONAL accountancy firm Mazars is running a breakfast seminar in Dudley to help firms prepare for the next financial year’s tax changes.

The free, hour-long event on February 11 at Mazars’ offices in The Broadway will focus on the implementation of the 50% taxation band.

Strategies aimed at minimising corporation tax and VAT, maximising cash flow and rewarding key employees in a tax efficient manner will also be delivered.

Tax director Ann Bibby said: “We will look at how companies can restructure their remuneration schemes to minimise the impact of the 50% level.

“Alternatives such as share schemes and other benefits can be offered to staff who will be hit by the new higher rate. Our event will outline the various options and give businesses an insight into the various tax planning strategies available.

“We will also look at how relevant staff at professional firms, such as solicitors, doctors and dentists, will be hit with the 50% tax rate immediately, whereas if their firm is a limited company tax rates could be kept as low as 21%. We will outline the various options and give businesses an insight into the various tax planning strategies available.”
