Burnham to give tax boost to Metro Mayors
The Prime Minister Andy Burnham will today outline plans to give English mayors a share of income tax revenues for the first time.
Describing it as “the biggest transfer of power from Westminster in a generation”, in his second week in office, Burnham will tell the Cabinet that “a new era of devolution” will give Mayors greater control over the decisions that shape jobs, transport, housing and public services in their area.
