Injection moulding specialist achieves ISO 14001 accreditation

West Midlands injection moulding specialist Clarity Plastics has secured ISO 14001 accreditation after introducing a range of measures aimed at improving its environmental performance.

The company, formed in 2025 through the acquisitions of Barkley Plastics and LVS, completed the accreditation process in four months, registering its interest in the standard before passing its first-stage audit in July and the second in August.

The accreditation covers Clarity Plastics’ sites in Birmingham and Telford and follows investment in energy-saving processes, solar panels and measures to reduce waste and improve recycling.

During the two audits, the business was recognised for the procedures it has introduced to manage its environmental impact, including efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and increase recycling.

Kevin Robinson, managing director of Clarity Plastics said: “Achieving ISO 14001 accreditation across both our Birmingham and Telford sites is an important milestone for the business. It demonstrates our continued investment in responsible, efficient manufacturing and gives our customers further confidence that environmental performance is embedded within the way we operate.”

“As we continue to grow, we remain committed to investing in modern technology, reducing our environmental impact and creating sustainable opportunities across both facilities. Importantly, the ISO 14001 accreditation has already led to a raft of new orders, as well as giving existing customers confidence that they are working with a supplier that is committed to minimising its impact on the environment.”

Clarity Plastics employs more than 100 people across its Birmingham and Telford operations and also holds IATF 16949 quality accreditation.

The company provides injection moulding services to customers across sectors including automotive, construction, electronics, retail and medical.

Its manufacturing capacity includes 50 moulding machines alongside assembly facilities. A £500,000 investment in a Bole 1500 tonne machine has also expanded its ability to produce larger and heavier mouldings requiring higher clamp force.

The machine will be installed at the company’s Highgate Street site in Birmingham, increasing its capacity beyond 800 tonnes for the first time. The investment is also intended to support work across the group’s Telford operation at Stafford Park 15.

Further investment is taking place in secondary manufacturing capabilities in Telford, including hot plate welding and leak-testing systems, as well as ultrasonic welding and other specialist assembly equipment.

These additions allow the business to offer a wider range of services, covering injection moulding alongside welding, assembly and testing.

Ian Byrne, group director of people & culture at Clarity Plastics said: “The ISO 14001 achievement is the latest step forward in our journey and reflects the commitment and hard work of our collective team. Environmental responsibility is not simply about documented procedures; it is about creating a culture in which our people understand the part they play in reducing waste, improving efficiency and supporting continuous improvement.”

“We will continue to engage and develop our employees so that sustainability remains part of our everyday decision-making and our long-term plans for the business.”
