Second-largest UK fuel distributor picks Coventry for new HQ
Independent fuel and energy distributor Watson Fuels is moving its UK headquarters to Coventry after agreeing a 7,150 sq ft letting at Bourn.
The company, which employs around 450 people across the UK, has chosen the city-centre workspace for its new headquarters and flagship office as it looks to create a more modern working environment for its teams.
Watson Fuels, which will celebrate its 70th anniversary next year, operates 39 depots across the UK, with some employees working remotely.
The company said Bourn’s central location and transport links were key factors in the decision, with the site close to Coventry railway station.
The new headquarters will provide a base for colleagues, customers and suppliers to meet, as well as hosting company-wide events.
Watson Fuels also said the move would give employees access to Bourn’s occupier community and events programme.
Bourn is more than 85 per cent let, with other occupiers including Prospect, FireAngel, Corona Energy, Cambridge University Press & Assessment, Global Insurance Management and Dexcel Pharma.
The workspace is net zero-ready and smart-enabled, with renewable energy, a BREEAM Very Good certification and an EPC A rating.
Rob Hemus, director of asset management and sustainability at Bourn owner IM Properties, said the deal was a further endorsement of the quality of workspace at the development.
CBRE and Bromwich Hardy acted for IM Properties, while Colliers advised Watson Fuels.
