Marston’s brews up a treat for women’s networking event

BUSINESSWOMEN in the West Midlands with a taste for real ale and networking will be able to indulge themselves when Marston’s brewery in Wolverhampton throws open its doors for a new event today.
The brewery, responsible for brands such as Pedigree, Banks’s and now Tetley’s, is hosting a ‘Women & Beer Night’ this evening in its visitor centre.
Special guest at the event will be Marston’s head brewer, Emma Gilleland. Ms Gilleland was appointed by Marston’s in 2007 and was the first woman to take on the role in the company’s 173 year history.
A biomedical technology graduate, she is the custodian of the secret recipes that give Marston’s beers their distinctive flavour. It is her skill that helps to ensure the brewery’s products retain their reputation
She will be outlining some of the tricks of the trade to the women attending the event, as well as offering them the chance to sample some of the beers she is ultimately responsible for.
She said: “We are seeing a distinct rise in ladies favouring ale now. This event provides the perfect opportunity to try a wide selection of our beers and learn about what food matches best, which will come in handy when creating dinner parties or eating out.”
