Bennett joins Irwin Mitchell

FORMER HBJ and Shoosmiths solicitor Michael Bennett has joined the corporate recovery practice at the Midlands’ offices of law firm Irwin Mitchell.

Mr Bennett is an expert in property insolvency with a particular focus on LPA receivership work and property sales out of administration.  

Mr Bennett said: “I was attracted to Irwin Mitchell by a number of factors, including its excellent reputation and national presence.  I have joined the firm at what is clearly an exciting time.”

He will work closely with Andrew Taylor, partner and head of Corporate Recovery and Dispute Resolution, and Mark Elder, lead partner for commercial litigation.  

Mr Taylor said:  “I am delighted to welcome Michael to Irwin Mitchell.  He has a wealth of experience, particularly in LPA receiverships, which will enhance our plans for the strategic growth of the practice in the Midlands.  In addition, he will make his expertise available to colleagues in our UK-wide office network.”

Mr Bennett has acted for a range of clients including accountancy firms, banks, financial houses, landlords and tenants, local authorities and national developers.  His career includes several years at HBJ Gateley Wareing and Shoosmiths.  

He went to school in Sutton Coldfield and lives in Erdington with his wife and young son.

Irwin Mitchell was established over 95 years ago and is one of the country’s largest law firms and the fifth largest litigation firm. The practice employs more than 2100 staff, with offices in Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, and Sheffield as well as Malaga and Madrid.
