Hundreds of jobs to go at Worcestershire logistics hub

MORE than 300 jobs have been placed under the threat of redundancy after logistics giant DHL announced plans to close a depot in Worcestershire.
The distribution hub on the Berry Hill Industrial Estate, in Droitwich, services a contract the firm has with supermarket chain Morrisons but this is will be administered from a new base in Somerset.
Staff affected by the announcement are being offered the chance to relocate or help with finding work closer to the spa town and training.
A statement from DHL said: “Approximately 330 jobs at the Berry Hill Estate are affected by the opening of Morrisons’ new distribution centre in Bridgwater.
“All staff at the site have been offered relocation assistance to the new facility, although we appreciate that not everyone will be able to make the move.
“We are also providing outplacement training in conjunction with Dudley College, to help staff secure alternative employment in the Droitwich area.
“This decision in no way reflects on the quality of work delivered at the site and we would like to thank staff for their understanding at this time.”
