Coventry office tech firm expands with new acquisition

A COVENTRY-based office technology company BBT Group has strengthened its presence in the North West with the acquisition of a rival business systems firm.
The group has acquired Preston-based Oakham Business Systems, which supplies photocopiers, printers and digital imaging equipment, for an undisclosed sum.
Financial support for the acquisition was provided by the North Midlands corporate banking centre (CBC) of The Co-operative Bank in Stafford.
Daran Harding, business development manager at the CBC, said: “BBT has been a customer of the bank for more than three years. We were delighted to help BBT achieve the next stage of its expansion.”
Philip Runciman, director of BBT Group, said; “Oakham Business Systems has a great reputation with very loyal customers and is an excellent fit for our business. The acquisition offers Oakham clients an expanded portfolio of products and services including document management and managed print services.
“The absorption of Oakham into the BBT Group will build an even greater presence in the North West and confirms the company’s ambition to further develop its market leading position across all business sectors.”
BBT, the UK’s largest sole supplier of Konica Minolta equipment such as network printers, has further expanded its presence in the North West with the opening of a sales office at MediaCityUK in Salford Quays, Salford – the new home of the BBC and ITV in the North.
BBT, established almost 20 years ago, now has more than 1,000 clients throughout the UK.
