Lichfield PR agency dashes in for new contract

LICHFIELD marketing consultancy Townhouse Communications has been appointed to promote the annual Lichfield Cathedral Dash.

The firm has been tasked with publicising the unique event both in and around Lichfield district and expand its appeal further afield.

The Lichfield Cathedral Dash was started in 1998.  Based upon the sprint around The Quadrangle at Trinity College, Cambridge and featured in the Oscar-winning film Chariots Of Fire, the Dash is a 430 metre sprint around the Cathedral Close within the chimes of noon, or 58 seconds.

The event has since grown to include junior, cycling and wheelchair racing but is still unique across the country.

Kevin Wilson, founder of The Dash and a director of organisers KP Events said: “The Dash is in its thirteenth year and has a fantastic following but I felt it was time to take the event to the next level.

“It’s a one of a kind, part of the Lichfield calendar and I want it put on the map.  The guys at Townhouse were recommended to me and I was impressed with not only their creativity but their passion for the Dash.”

Julian Fisher, Townhouse communications director said: “After six years, with clients all over the UK and Europe the Cathedral Dash is our first Lichfield client and I’m absolutely delighted.

“We have extensive experience of sports and events PR having worked for the Football Association plus Europe’s largest tennis coaching organisation – Registro de Professional Tennis.”

“The team looking is forward to getting our teeth into promoting the Dash, which is truly a unique event, and promoting the city of Lichfield far and wide,” he added.

Townhouse Communications’ other clients include AXA, Costa Coffee and the National Lottery.

It has two offers – regional PR support for national clients looking for local knowledge and expertise.

The other side of the agency is marketing in business-to-business sectors.  Clients include FTSE 250 listed RS Components and Swedish firm Combisafe.
