Morgan Sindall named preferred bidder in £500m framework

WARWICKSHIRE-based construction and infrastructure firm Morgan Sindall has been appointed preferred bidder for a potential £500m electricity overhead line project.

The deal, as part of joint venture MSVE Transmission, will deliver Solihull-based National Grid’s overhead line construction programme for the next five years.

Rugby-headquartered Morgan Sindall will work with Vinci Energies, a company which provides a range of services in energy and information technologies.

The majority of the first year’s work will be spent on the design and development of the programme of work scheduled for the remainder of the project.

The first year will also include a project to replace fittings on a 400kV overhead line.

The partnership’s scope for the remainder of the contract will include a variety of projects to refurbish and construct overhead lines and towers across England and Wales.

Paul Smith, chief executive of London-based parent company Morgan Sindall Group, said: “We are seeing a number of opportunities in the energy sector and the combination of our specialist skills and experience of working with energy providers leaves us well placed to benefit from this trend.

“This is an excellent appointment for our construction and infrastructure business.”
