JUST three months after launching in the West Midlands, TheBusinessDesk.com has appointed a new full-time business correspondent.

Tamlyn Jones joined the online business news service this week from Hold The Front Page, a news site that covers the UK regional press.

Mr Jones, 33, joins editor Marc Reeves and deputy editor Duncan Tift at TheBusinessDesk.com’s Newhall Street offices in Birmingham city centre.

Since launching in February, the West Midlands site has attracted more than 4,000 registered users, who receive daily or weekly emails containing up-to-the-minute business news stories from across the region.

Mr Reeves said: “Tamlyn has just the experience we have been looking for, having worked in an exclusively online environment covering a specific business sector. He’s a superb reporter and I know he’s eager to get to know the West Midlands business community.

“The continued success of TheBusinessDesk.com is fantastic, and our rate of growth has been simply phenomenal. Readers and advertisers clearly like what we’re doing and with Tamlyn now on the team, we can continue to deliver an excellent service and improve what we do even further.”

Mr Jones started his career with the Midland News Association at the Wolverhampton Chronicle, before taking over as the only reporter on the Stafford and Stone Chronicle.

He later joined the Shropshire Star, covering its Mid Wales patch, before moving into digital publishing as an internet journalist with the local newspaper industry website HoldtheFrontPage.co.uk based in Derby.

He graduated from the University of Central Lancashire and studied newspaper journalism at Nottingham Trent University.

Mr Jones said: “It’s great to join the Birmingham team of TheBusinessDesk.com and I’m looking forward to playing my part in its future success. It’s really exciting to be part of  such a new and innovative business.”

Mr Jones’s direct line is 0121 222 4206, and he can be contacted via email at tamlyn.jones@thebusinessdesk.com.
