BREAKING NEWS: Clarke Willmott announces new chief executive

LAW firm Clarke Willmott today announced the appointment of Stephen Rosser as its new chief executive in succession to David Sedgwick.

Mr Sedgwick hands the reins over after 11 years managing the firm.

Mr Rosser was elected as the chairman of Clarke Willmott in December last year and since his appointment has played an integral role, providing strategic and management advice across the firm.

He said: “I am very grateful to David for all his hard work over the years and I am grateful for his continued support as I take over this exciting but demanding role.  I am aware the firm will face many challenges over the next 12 months.

“The challenging marketplace and imminent changes, such as the Legal Service Act, are set to challenge and reshape our industry and as a firm we need to be prepared to deal with these changes.”

“I will be addressing the on-going strategy of the firm, and I have already implemented a strategy board to work through our plans for the future and deliver new strategy and policy,” he added.

He said that at the heart of this would be providing quality and value to clients and focusing on what the firm did best.

David SedgwickMr Sedgwick was elected chief executive of the firm in 1999 and during his tenure has grown the firm in terms of turnover, size and location.

Under his watch, Clarke Willmott was cited as “the most ambitious of the next generation of national law firms”.

Mr Sedgwick took the decision to transfer the role of CEO as the firm begins a new financial year and embarks on developing a new strategy for the business under the leadership of Mr Rosser.

Mr Sedgwick will remain as a senior partner of the firm and will continue to work with the board in an advisory capacity while helping with the transition of roles.
