Event Hire named the best in the business

A WALSALL-based equipment hire firm has won a top title at the industry’s showpiece awards ceremony.

Event Hire was named as the Hire Company of the Year with multiple outlets at the Hire Awards of Excellence 2010, held at the Landmark Hotel in London.

The awards ceremony was organised by the Hire Association Europe, which polices and supports more than 1,000 hire companies, and the Event Hire Association.  

Event Hire, which is based on the Maple Leaf Industrial Estate, Bloxwich Lane, won the accolade as a result of its expansion and consistency over the past five years.

The company, founded by managing director Les Vipond and Phil Edwards in 2005, has worked on a number of high profile national events including the British Grand Prix, the MOBO Awards, the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the National Television Awards.

In 2009, it opened additional depots in Bradford and London to meet an ever-growing number of commitments, and invested in a heavy recruitment drive, doubling the staff from 20 to 40.

Mr Vipond said: “To be presented with this award after less than five years in business is a big honour for us.

“We have worked very hard to develop Event Hire as one of the UK’s leading hire companies, and to have that reinforced by the HAE is fantastic.”

Mr Edwards, the firm’s business development director, added: “The business has taken a strategic approach to growth since it was established and we opened our Northern and Southern depots in Bradford and London last year in response to recommendations and new contracts.

“We’re thrilled to have all our hard work recognised by these prestigious organisations, and we hope to build upon our success in the years to come.”
