Alsters Kelley helps firms expand

A WARWICKSHIRE law firm has helped secure leases for two firms to expand into new premises in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Alsters Kelley, which has offices in Coventry, Nuneaton and Leamington Spa, negotiated the leases on behalf of The Care Bureau and Active Mobility.

The Care Bureau, a long-standing client of the law firm, has moved into larger offices at Falstaff House on Birmingham Road, while Active Mobility has also increased the size of its retail space.

The Care Bureau provides care to people in their own homes. Its headquarters are in Leamington Spa and it also has offices in Telford and Kettering.

Active Mobility, which supplies mobility aids including scooters, has seen its business grow to the point where its premises at Midland House, also on Birmingham Road, were no longer large enough.

It has now traded up from a single unit to take on two suites at the complex. It also has retail premises in Oxford Street, Leamington Spa.

Dawn Short, who advised both clients, said: “Although trading conditions are undoubtedly tough for many people, there are still success stories to celebrate and it is good to see established businesses committing to their future expansion.”

Needham & James represented the landlords of Falstaff House, where Tim Cox Associates was the agent, while MFG Solicitors acted for the landlords of Midland House.

Ms Short also carried out the lease work enabling Anita Mannion to establish her new enterprise, The Leamington Wine Company, based in Warwick Street.

Ms Mannion, who has worked in the drinks trade for several years, decided to set up her own business in Leamington because she perceived a gap in the market for personally-recommended wines.

She said: “Although it is still relatively early days for the business, it is going well and we are very optimistic about the future.

“We find there is much more interest from people who want to find out more about what they are buying instead of heading for the supermarket wine shelf, where price is the overriding consideration.”

Victoria Mawer from property consultants ehb located the premises for The Leamington Wine Company.

The landlord is part of the S J Dixon & Son group, which also has premises in Kenilworth Street, round the corner from The Leamington Wine Company. Its solicitor was FBC Manby Bowdler.
