SP Holding Group expands with new acquisition

SHROPSHIRE-based truck servicing business, the SP Holding Group, has strengthened its service offering with the acquisition of a Black Country trailer maintenance and repair company in an undisclosed deal. The acquisition of Willenhall-based Trailercare means SP Holding can now offer a total truck and trailer care service for logistics companies. The Telford-based group already operates a truck maintenance and repairs service, a Renault Trucks dealership, a VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) truck test facility plus a truck and specialist vehicle hire, leasing and sales service. Steve Holding, managing director of SP Holding, said: “This is an exciting development for us. We have acquired Trailercare because there is a good fit with our other services. It means we can now offer a total truck and trailer care service to our logistics customers, including maintenance, repairs, hire, leasing and sales.” Trailercare, which is now being integrated into the holding group, has a turnover of £1.2m and employs 25 staff. SP Holding has promised new investment in the business.

Amvar lifts off with new deal for fencing firm

BLACK Country forklift distributor Amvar Handling Solutions has secured a deal to supply a fleet of five new forklift trucks to a Staffordshire timber business. Treeway Fencing, based in Cannock Wood, needed the new vehicles to ensure it could meet the demands of the busy festive period. The family-owned firm, which employs 70 people, supplies around 10,000 Christmas trees to customers during December. The specialised fleet has been supplied on a five-year hire agreement.  Malcolm Mitchell, managing director of Amvar, said: “We are absolutely delighted to secure this contract renewal.”

Yearsley Group expands fleet with £1.4m order

Yearsley Group, the UK’s largest cold storage and distribution provider, has taken delivery of a £1.4m fleet of 20 trucks. The Manchester-based company has cold stores at Coleshill and Bell Eau Park in Nottingham. The new MAN tractor units have been delivered and will be based at five of Yearsley’s 12 depots across the UK, including those in the Midlands. “This represents significant investment and is part of our on-going strategy of replacing vehicles to ensure they remain as environmentally friendly and cost-efficient as possible,” said Yearsley Group’s head of logistics, Mark Haslam. “These vehicles are the first we have ordered from MAN and we believe that they are ideally suited to our operation.”
