Box manufacturer relocates after new funding package

A WEST Bromwich packaging company has moved to new premises and created new jobs after receiving a new funding package.
Corrugated Box Supplies Ltd (CBS) manufactures corrugated boxes for storage and transportation use across a range of industry sectors from wholesale and retail to distribution.
Established in 1996 by brothers Jitha and Jan Singh, the family-run business was previously based at smaller premises on Kelvin Way in West Bromwich. At the end of 2011, the firm relocated to a new 160,000 sq ft building on a five acre site on Brandon Way.
CBS Group, which has an annual turnover of around £15m, employs more than 120 people, having recruited an additional 15 members of staff since the relocation.
The move will support the firm’s future growth ambitions and enable it to increase customer orders. It also gives the business more room to house its state-of-the-art corrugator machinery, which is used to manufacture large quantities of shelf-ready packaging products on-site.
Jitha Singh, the firm’s managing director, said: “CBS has enjoyed solid growth and progression in recent years and as a result, we were more than ready to relocate to much larger premises.
“As a Midlands manufacturer, we were keen to find suitable premises close to our roots in West Bromwich that were big enough to accommodate the large scale machinery that we use to produce our packaging. The five acre site on which our building is located is perfect for our existing needs and it also provides us with space for further expansion as and when we need it.”
Mike Middleton, relationship director for Lloyds TSB Commercial, said: “CBS is an exciting, innovative and progressive manufacturing business that has expanded and developed in recent years to become increasingly well established players in the packaging market.
“The relocation to much larger new premises demonstrates how well Jitha and his family-led team has identified clear strategic objectives to maximise and secure future growth in the company. The move has also boosted the local economy by creating several new jobs.”
