Big appointment as former Golley Slater MD defects

MIDLANDS integrated creative agency Big Communications has captured Golley Slater’s former Birmingham and Bristol managing director Tim Gearey to head up its new PR division.

During his time at the Fort Dunlop firm, Mr Gearey headed up a consumer and business client portfolio that included Skoda, Hilton, GKN, Alstom and JCB.  He also was also responsible for launching Golley’s new national PR social media offering.

Prior to his role at Golley Slater PR, where he replaced Nathan Lane after the latter left to head up Leeds PR consultancy Ptarmigan Bell Pottinger, Mr Gearey was deputy managing director at McCann Erickson in Birmingham, where he worked on brands including Mercedes-Benz, Siemens, npower and Halfords.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Gearey said: “Big Communications has a tremendous reputation as an award-winning marketing agency and a fantastic client portfolio.  This is an exciting new venture for Big and there’s huge potential and opportunity to now offer clients a first-class PR service.”

Big PR will offer a range of PR services, including a focus on digital and social media.

Mike Phillipson, Big Communication managing director, said: “Our clients have an appetite for developing more innovative PR strategies.  Bringing in Tim, with his PR pedigree experience and expertise, will enable us to not only help our clients, but to attract new clients as well.”
