Legal services broker Shire & Co secures £3m contract

STAFFORDSHIRE-based legal services broker, Shire & Co, has secured a £3m contract to provide a panel of solicitors for Atrium Legal Services.

Lancashire-based Atrium is the largest claims management company specialising in industrial disease claims including hearing loss, vibration white finger and asbestos claims.

It said that after a considered review of the market, it had appointed Shire & Co, firstly to create a panel of solicitors able to handle the claims and then to distribute, manage and monitor the flow of work. The contract will run for two years.

Charles Cox, of Rossendale-based Atrium, said: “We named Shire & Co as our legal services broker because of its understanding of our market combined with its reputation for excellence in customer service.”

Martyn Jones, director of Shire & Co, said: “The process of building the panel of solicitors is now well under way; we are seeking applications and conducting due diligence on each firm confirming a range of elements including financial stability and levels of client care.

“We expect to process the initial cases this month and will monitor ongoing performance throughout the claim.”

Atrium Legal Services is raising awareness among possible claimants through a combination of direct marketing and publicity. It expects to feed 1,500 cases through to Shire & Co per month.
