Singleton gets the point

ONE of Birmingham’s best-known urban planners has joined Millennium Point as chief executive.

Philip Singleton, who was Birmingham City Council’s director for city centre development and design – working on projects such as Eastside and the Big City Plan – is tasked with helping build the Millennium Point brand.

The building – whose tenants include Thinktank, Birmingham City University and Metropolitan College – is used by 4,000 people a day but there is a feeling that it hasn’t quite fulfilled its potential, partly because planned development around the Eastside site it sits on hasn’t happened.
